While Rafael Nadal is the clear favorite going into the French Open, aside from Roger Federer, a solid second contender has emerged.   Fernando Verdasco, a/k/a “Hot Sauce” has had great results early on in this clay court season.   Verdasco made it to his first Masters Series final a couple of weeks ago in Monte Carlo and this past Sunday defeated the eighth world ranked Swede and 2009 French Open slayer of Rafa, Robin Soderling in the Barcelona final 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.  If Verdasco has the good fortune of being on the opposite side of the draw from Rafa at Roland Garros this year, look for the ninth world ranked Spaniard to make his first Grand Slam final.
